Wisteria: Our Newest Seasonal Glaze (And How It Got Its Name)

Spring 2024, we finally gave in to the years of requests for a purple glaze—and we’ve got to admit, it’s kinda growing on us.

Soft, subtle, and just the right amount of lusciously moody, this new glaze breaks beautifully around the edges where it thins out in the kiln. It’s the kind of color that feels like spring without screaming it from the rooftops—elegant, understated, and made to complement any table.

But before we could launch it, we needed a name.

So, just like last year’s Flamingo Mania, we turned to you. And, as expected, you all delivered.

We had an overwhelming number of comments, suggestions, and honestly, some pretty unhinged submissions (looking at you, Purple Nurple). While that one didn’t quite fit with the rest of our glaze names, it did make us laugh—and that deserved a free mug on principle.

The real winner? Wisteria.

Perfectly fitting for this soft, sophisticated hue, Wisteria captures the way the glaze pools and flows, mimicking the natural drape of its namesake flower.

We launched it in limited quantities at the Spring Makers Market and, of course, online. All your favorite Signature Line pieces are now available in Wisteria—but like all our seasonal glazes, once they’re gone, they’re gone.
